Curriculum vitae
JOHANNA JAEGER (*1985) is a visual artist based in Berlin.
She graduated from Hunter College New York (MFA) in 2014. In her work Jaeger explores the means and boundaries of photography as a medium and the perceptive expectations attached to it. Her work addresses the poetics of the ordinary and the corporeal quality of art in architecture. Found and staged motifs are intertwined and find their form in site-specific installations, projections, objects and serial photo works.
Reviews of her work have been published in Kunstforum, Camera Austria and Artforum International. Her work has been shown internationally e.g. at Hercules Studios New York, Museum für Photographie Braunschweig, Brandenburgischer Kunstverein, Playground London, Grand Palais Bern, Drawing Room Hamburg, Kunsthalle Bremen. Jaeger teaches photography at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle.
